Skelmorlie Golf Club is an 18-hole moorland course designed by James Braid, located above the village of Skelmorlie in North Ayrshire, Scotland. The course commands stunning views of the sea and mountains to the north and west, with wild moorland to the east.

Founded in 1891, the course has evolved significantly over time. Originally nine holes, it expanded to 13 holes in 1909 before becoming a regulation 18-hole layout in 1999. The current design features the natural terrain divided into three loops that return conveniently to the clubhouse.

The course presents a challenging test for golfers of all standards. It includes seven par 3s, which are considered critical to scoring well, complemented by demanding par 4s requiring accuracy and strategic course management. The holes are named individually, including notable holes such as 'Bullfield,' 'Braid's Brae,' and 'Sleeping Warrior.'

Skelmorlie is renowned for the quality of its greens, consistently maintained to high standards year-round. The course's well-draining moorland terrain allows it to remain playable even after heavy rain when other courses may be closed. Visitors playing to their handicap typically find Skelmorlie a rewarding and enjoyable challenge.
