Located on a hillside near the coast in Iwaki City, Fukushima, Shioyazaki Country Club is a 27-hole facility designed by renowned architect Midori Asami. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the Wisteria Course, the Camellia Course, and the Cherry Blossom Course. The grounds feature Bentgrass greens and offer a layout that utilizes the natural terrain to provide a variety of strategic challenges. The Camellia Course is the longest of the three, featuring a signature par-5 5th hole that stretches 633 yards from the back tees. This hole is noted as the longest in the Tohoku region and serves as a dramatic centerpiece for the course's doglegs, water carries, and valley crossings. The Wisteria Course offers a mix of tee shots and carries, while the Cherry Blossom Course is the shortest of the three but presents the steepest elevation changes and views of the sea. The facility operates on a "through-play" system, allowing for continuous rounds without the long breaks between holes common in some Japanese courses. This approach is designed to let players focus entirely on the game and manage their time efficiently. The course is equipped with modern navigation systems in the golf carts to help players track distances and green locations. Shioyazaki Country Club has a history spanning over 50 years, having opened more than half a century ago. The location benefits from a relatively mild climate compared to other parts of the region, with the coastal proximity helping to keep temperatures moderate. The course is set within a natural landscape that includes forests and open views of the Pacific Ocean, particularly noticeable on the Cherry Blossom Course.
