Shawnee Country Club was established in 1904 by Colonel John Charles Linneman and is one of the oldest private Country Clubs in Ohio. Located at 1700 Shawnee Rd in Lima, OH 45805, the 18-hole course was designed by Tom Bendelow and uses natural rolling hills to create a challenging course for players of all skill levels. The course features 6,295 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72, with a course rating of 70.1 and slope rating of 126 on bent grass. The course was redesigned in part by Spencer Holt in 2012.
The land was chosen for its unusual rolling terrain in an otherwise flat area, with abundant water and trees adding to the site's appeal. Premier conditioning and narrow fairways characterize the course. The longest hole is number 3, a par-5 playing 573 yards, while the shortest is number 6, a par-3 at 160 yards, with hole 9, a 432-yard par-4, rated as the #1 handicap hole.
Shawnee Country Club is a private club with membership by invitation only. In recent years, the club has built a new clubhouse, tennis courts, and bathhouse along with significant improvements to the golf course.
