Sewells Point Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course established in 1927 and designed by renowned architect Donald Ross. Located in Norfolk, Virginia at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Hampton Roads, the course plays to 6,280 yards from the back tees with a par of 71. The course features a rating of 70.2 and slope of 125, with new Champion Hybrid Bermuda greens. The layout showcases characteristic Donald Ross design elements, including tree-lined fairways, well-bunkered undulating greens, and 50 acres of specimen trees that wrap around the course in the traditional Ross style.
The course is notable for hosting Arnold Palmer's professional debut on November 21, 1954, and was ranked by Golfers Choice as the 16th best course in Virginia in 2022. Sewells Point offers a full-service facility with a driving range, practice putting and chipping greens, and a practice sand bunker. The historic clubhouse, built 74 years ago, houses a pro shop, snack bar, and the Norfolk Room, available for private events. PGA-certified instructors provide lessons and club fittings.
Open to the general public as well as military personnel and their families, the course operates daily with accommodations for all skill levels through four sets of tees. During peak season, approximately 1,000 players frequent the course weekly, and it regularly hosts tournaments and outings throughout the year.
