Salem Municipal Golf Course is a nine-hole, par 34 course that spans 2,400 yards, located just a few blocks from downtown Salem. Built in 1919 on 46 acres, the course is a public facility designed to be accessible to golfers of all skill levels, particularly newcomers to the game. The course features distinctive sand greens made from a combination of sand, clay, and a bonding agent called Durasoil, which maintain consistency similar to a baseball infield. These sand greens were restored to the course following a period of artificial turf greens from 2001 to 2008.

The facility offers a relaxed, picturesque setting characteristic of early 20th-century municipal courses. Annual events include the Salem Benefit Golf Tournament, held to support local residents in need. The course is publicly managed and operates seven days a week under the city of Salem's Parks and Recreation Department.
