The Royal Selangor Golf Club is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, situated on a hilly site that was originally part of Petaling Hill. The course layout consists of two distinct 18-hole courses: the Old Course and the New Course, along with a separate 9-hole Sulaiman Course. The Old Course was established in 1921, with the New Course completed in 1931, while the Sulaiman Course was added in 1965. The terrain is characterized by its hilly nature, featuring legacy elements such as Tembusu trees and pond holes that remain from the site's previous occupants. The club has a rich tournament history, having hosted the Malaysia Open annually starting in 1962 and the Putra Cup, a Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship, beginning in 1961. It also staged the Nomura Cup, an Asia’s Amateur Golf Team Championship, in 1977 and the Fairway Masters (later the Dunhill Malaysian Masters) in 1992. The club received its 'Royal' designation in 1963 from the Yang DiPertuan Agong, elevating its status as a premier golfing facility in the region. The facility is a private membership club, with golfing privileges strictly reserved for members and their invited guests. The club features a clubhouse that includes a restaurant, bars, changing rooms, and a swimming pool pavilion designed by Frank Lloyd, which is classified as a heritage building. The grounds also include tennis courts and squash courts, reflecting the club's long-standing commitment to sports and recreation since its founding in 1893.
