Rocky River Golf Club ☆ Follow

Designed by Dan F. Maples, ASGCA, the Rocky River golf course opened in 1997. The 18-hole course features 6970 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.7 and it has a slope rating of 141. Located in the Charlotte/Concord metro area, the routing flows through the natural contours of the land, and is bordered by the Rocky River and surrounding wetlands. An existing boulder that was too large to move during construction provides a memorable tee shot on hole #3.

Four sets of tees allow the layout to appeal to players of all skill levels. Dan Maples routed the course through rocky hills and natural wetlands, with the humming of racecars from the adjacent Charlotte Motor Speedway visible from holes on the front nine. The course features unique holes including the 555-yard par 5 3rd hole with a large boulder in the fairway, named Gragg's Rock after Floyd Gragg who directed the opening of the course.

Rocky River is the only municipally owned golf course rated in the North Carolina Top 100, and one of only 6 public courses in the state to make the top 100. The property is part of the Embassy Suites Charlotte Concord Golf Resort & Spa, owned by the City of Concord and operated by Atrium Hospitality.
