Reston National Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 71, public course designed by Edmund (Ed) Ault and opened in 1970. The 166-acre layout located on the Chesapeake Bay watershed is a certified Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary. The championship course spans over 6,800 yards from the back tees. The course is located in the heart of the Live-Work-Play Reston community and is minutes from Reston Town Center, Tysons Corner, and Dulles Airport.
The course is classically designed with mature trees on gently rolling landscape, tree-lined rolling fairways, and heavily bunkered greens. Water comes into play on four holes. Notable holes include the 440-yard 13th which doglegs left and uphill, the 408-yard ninth with a severe dogleg, and the par-4 seventh which offers risk-reward opportunities. The three par 5s play no longer than 530 yards.
The course averages approximately 40,000 rounds annually, making it one of the busiest courses in the Mid-Atlantic region. Amenities include a full driving range and short-game practice area, as well as PinHigh, a 150-seat grill room with a covered pavilion overlooking the driving range.
