The Golf Club at Red Rock is a public 18-hole course located in Rapid City, South Dakota. Designed by architect Ron Farris and opened for public play in 2003, the course lies on the edge of the Black Hills National Forest. The championship course measures 6,900 yards with a par of 72 and features dramatic elevation changes, links-style bunkers, and USGA specification greens. The course is routed through Black Hills terrain with lush fairways surrounded by native grasses and tall ponderosa pine trees. With a minimum of four tee placements per hole, players of all levels can enjoy a challenging golf experience.
Notable feature holes include the par five 2nd, rated stroke index 1, the left doglegged par four 4th, and the 155-yard 12th and 214-yard 15th on the back nine. Rolling fairways are routed into, out of and over a series of canyons that occupy the dramatic landscape. The course presents significant challenges through its elevation changes and strategic bunkering, with the layout measuring between 5,032 and 7,114 yards with multiple tee placements on every hole.
The Golf Club at Red Rock has repeatedly been ranked the number one public golf course in South Dakota and was voted 2019 and 2020 best golf course in the Black Hills by local residents. The course is reputed to be the only course in South Dakota that remains open for play during every month of the year.
