Quixote Club is a 6,800-yard par-70 layout designed by Kris Spence and Jack Nicklaus II on sandy Sandhills terrain. Splayed out over 169 acres of trees and turf, the course was designed to exude character and legendary architecture, with ample width, long vistas, and abundant turf flowing through majestic live oaks that entice aggressive play off the tee, while sufficient complexity created within the green surfaces and surrounds requires a well-thought-out approach and tests every element of the player's short game.
Quixote Club opened in 2020 on the site of the former Sunset Country Club in Sumter, South Carolina, representing a complete transformation. Sunset Country Club originally opened in 1922 as one of the oldest golf courses in the Santee region. The clubhouse was designed by architect Jeff Harbison.
This private members' club combines world-class golf with a philanthropic mission supporting local education. The club's unique philanthropic mission funds Liberty STEAM Charter School, making every round contribute to educational advancement in rural South Carolina.
