Piopio / Aria Golf Club

Piopio–Aria Golf Club was founded in April 1980 following the merger of two local nine-hole courses in Piopio and Aria. Located at 1686 State Highway 3, approximately 5 km from Piopio township in the King Country region, the course sits on land selected to create a full 18-hole layout.

Designed by Harold Dale and built through volunteer efforts from both original clubs, the course plays as Par 70 (5,383m) from the white tees for men and Par 72 (4,821m) from the yellow tees for ladies. The course features a unique characteristic: sheep graze the fairways and help trim the rough, creating a relaxed and authentic atmosphere that distinguishes it from typical golf courses.

With 107 members and 11 junior members drawn from surrounding towns including Te Kuiti, Otorohanga, and Cambridge, Piopio–Aria Golf Club serves as a community hub. The course welcomes golfers of all ages and abilities, offering a friendly, supportive environment focused on camaraderie and connection alongside competitive play.
