Pine Lakes Country Club is an 18-hole, par 70 course located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America, and originally opened in 1927 as Ocean Forest Country Club, it was renamed Pine Lakes in 1946. The course is known as "The Granddaddy" for being Myrtle Beach's first golf course. Robert White's original design is preserved on the back nine, which features considerable undulation and is known for challenging par 4s, particularly hole 14 which is framed by the Ocean Boulevard skyline.
The course underwent a comprehensive greens and bunker restoration project in 2021, returning it to its historic condition while incorporating modern improvements. The front nine was also renovated by architect Craig Schreiner to enhance the playing experience. The course measures 6,675 yards from the championship tees and has a slope rating of 134. It features a naturally rolling piece of land with water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout.
Pine Lakes holds significant historical importance as the birthplace of Sports Illustrated magazine, which was founded in 1954 during a meeting at the club. The course is also home to the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame and features a historic clubhouse that is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The course is part of the Prime Times Founders Collection of courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
