Pierson Golf Course ☆ Follow

The 9-hole Pierson course features 2,854 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 33. Located in Pierson, about 40 minutes east of Sioux City, the course opened in 1946. It is northwest Iowa's only sand green golf course. Sand green courses represent how the game was adapted in places where grass greens were impractical due to limited resources and were often built and maintained by local volunteers or farmers.

The longest hole measures 407 yards, while the shortest is 85, with two creeks crossing the layout and coming into play on most holes. Like many Iowa courses, there are corn and bean fields adjacent to the course. Fewer than 100 sand green golf courses remain in the U.S. Green fees are paid on the honor system at the clubhouse.
