Paxon Hollow Golf Club was built in 1926 and designed by J. Franklin Meehan, with Francis Warner involved with the design. The course is owned and operated by Marple Township and is conveniently located just west of Philadelphia. The course features par 71 and a length of 5,709 yards, making it relatively compact despite its challenging nature. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways, significant elevation changes, and strategically placed bunkers, making it more challenging than the yardage suggests.
The 18th hole is particularly notable, regarded by some as the toughest finishing hole in the area, with a large tree, a creek, and a challenging uphill dogleg left to the green. The course has been the site of many professional and amateur tournaments and has hosted such great players as Walter Hagen, Art Wall, and Ed Dudley. During private ownership by White Manor the back nine holes were changed considerably, with only the 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th holes remaining unchanged from the original design.
The facility includes a classically designed 18-hole golf course, practice range, restaurant, and banquet facility. Paxon Hollow was formed as a private club over 90 years ago and has now become one of the most popular public golf courses in the Philadelphia area.
