The Marache is a championship 18-hole course located at the Royal Waterloo Golf Club in Lasne, Belgium, situated in the Brabant Wallonia region near the historic Waterloo battlefield. Designed by the renowned British architect Fred Hawtree, the course was established in 1961 as the club's original "A-B" layout. It is one of three 18-hole courses at the facility, which also includes The Lion and the Bois-Héros, all maintained on a 140-hectare estate. The course is designed to accommodate golfers of all levels, offering a playing experience that integrates with the natural landscape of the area. The layout is characterized by its integration into the surrounding environment, providing a setting described as an island of calm surrounded by nature. The course features standard golfing amenities, including manual and electric trolleys, as well as buggy access. Royal Waterloo Golf Club has a significant history in competitive golf, having been elected the best club in Belgium in 2020 by Leading Courses and ranked number one in the international Golf Digest. The club holds a tradition of excellence, having been the most successful club in Belgium’s Inter-Club championship. The Marache has hosted international tournaments, contributing to the club's reputation for hosting high-level events. The facility also includes extensive practice areas, such as putting greens and approach areas, supporting the development of players at various stages of their game.
