Established in 1929, Paintsville Golf Course is one of the first 18-hole courses in Eastern Kentucky. Designed by Dr. Paul B. Hall, a Kentucky Golf Association Hall of Fame member, along with brothers C. Mitchel Hall and Dr. Lon C. Hall, the course offers a challenging experience for golfers of all skill levels.

The front nine features rolling fairways with elevation changes, while the back nine increases difficulty with two lakes integrated into play. A distinctive feature is the famous swinging bridge that players cross during the round. Two signature holes—number 10 and number 17—require tee shots carrying over the Big Sandy River, adding to the course's character and challenge.

Located in Eastern Kentucky between Paintsville Lake State Park and Jenny Wiley State Park, the course benefits from the region's natural landscape and scenic beauty. Situated just minutes off US 23, the Country Music Highway, the course provides convenient access while maintaining its connection to the area's outdoor recreation and cultural attractions. The setting combines the course's historic significance with the natural terrain of the region, creating a distinctive golfing environment.
