Starcross Golf is a nine-hole course located on the South Devon coast, established in 1992 by Rich and Cindi Williams. The layout, which totals 1,514 yards, is designed to offer a challenging experience for golfers of all levels without the pressure of a full eighteen-hole round. The course has undergone several iterations since its inception, with the holes originally running in the opposite direction to their current configuration. The Williams family, now including son Sam, continues to operate the course, which serves as a wildlife haven for approximately 8,000 migratory birds during the winter months. The course features a mix of par 3s, par 4s, and a single par 5, with distinct challenges at each stage. The longest hole is the sixth, "Shell Duck," at 242 yards, where players must navigate a river and a pond. In contrast, the fourth hole, "Splash," is the shortest at just 104 yards, guarded by water both long and short of the green. The third hole, "Kestrel's Keep," at 191 yards, is described as arguably the trickiest, with water flanking the green and additional hazards including pampas grass and bunkers. Notable features include the signature "doughnut bunker" at the fifth hole, "The Vicarage," and the "Morton Mount" obstacle at the eighth hole, "Goose Reach." The ninth hole, "Victory," presents a tough finish against the prevailing wind, with a green that slopes from front to back. The course also includes a tenth hole, "The Watering Hole," situated just 100 yards from the ninth green, which serves as a social area for players. Starcross Golf operates with no booking requirements or dress code, aiming to provide a relaxed environment. The course offers various pricing options, including day tickets that include a drink, and weekend or evening deals that combine play with food and beverage. Trolleys are provided free of charge, and club hire is available for a nominal fee. The course is open for the 2026 season, with updates and offers shared through their social media channels.
