Founded in 1915, Mount Vernon Country Club stands as one of Central Ohio's premier private clubs. Located in the foothills of Knox County with tree-lined fairways, panoramic elevated tees, tranquil ponds and immaculate greens, the 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by Tom Bendelow and Barry Serafin and provides a challenging and rewarding round for all levels of golfing skill. The course measures just under 6,400 yards from the championship tees, and features strategically placed bunkers protecting the greens with water hazards on four holes, most notably the signature 17th hole—a par 4 with a downhill tee shot past serene ponds and a cascading fountain.
The course underwent a significant transformation in 1996 under Barry Serafin, who introduced innovative designs that enhanced the course's playability and aesthetics. The course prioritizes precision and strategy over sheer length, with distance control on approach shots critical as being out of position on the undulating greens can quickly impact a player's score. The club hosts less than 7,000 rounds annually, maintaining an exclusive private club experience for its members.
