Montaup Country Club

Montaup Country Club is an 18-hole semi-private golf course located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, near historic Newport. The course features a fairly open, flat layout with tricky winds that challenge golfers' shot-making abilities. The signature hole is the Par 5 16th, which offers scenic views overlooking Mt. Hope Bay and Bridge. The opening stretch is particularly demanding, with the first three holes considered among the toughest starting holes in Rhode Island. The opening hole presents water hazards fronting and flanking the right side of the green, while out-of-bounds threatens the left. The course is open year-round for golf enthusiasts and hosts various tournaments and group outings. Montaup maintains an active membership program and provides both member and public tee time availability.
