Located in the Haut-Jura region within the resort of Les Rousses, the Domaine du Mont-Saint-Jean is an 18-hole mountain golf course situated just two kilometers from the Swiss border. The course sits on the edge of the Noirmont massif, a setting that provides expansive views of the largest Jura mountain range and proximity to Geneva and Lausanne. The property spans 60 hectares, built upon the land of an old Jura farm, offering a natural environment maintained with respect for the surrounding landscape. Designed by architect Hugues Lambert and inaugurated in 1990, the layout is a par 72 course measuring 6,008 meters in length. The design is characterized by its technical nature and significant relief, featuring elevated tees and generous fairways that alternate with a few water hazards. The course is described as remarkable for its diversity and atmosphere, catering to players of all levels through its varied terrain and challenging layout. The difficulty of the course is derived from its topography and specific hole designs. Certain holes are identified as signature challenges that can be difficult to negotiate, specifically holes 1, 5, and 16. The facility includes a clubhouse, a pro shop, and a restaurant, integrated into the broader Domaine du Mont-Saint-Jean which also features a hotel. The course offers various services to visitors, including the use of electric and manual trolleys, and provides teaching programs for those looking to improve their game. The site also hosts a juniors golf club and organizes competitions, maintaining its role as a central activity hub for the resort.
