Mombasa Golf Club was established on June 27, 1911, making it one of Kenya's historic golf facilities. The course features 9 holes and is notably the only links course in the region, positioned uniquely as the only one south of the Sahara and north of the Limpopo. Located near the lighthouse in Mombasa, the course was developed from cleared bush and scrub land, with the original layout completed in 1912. The club is gazetted as a historic site (Site Number 100) by the National Museums of Kenya as of 1997. The original clubhouse was erected in 1920 and continues to serve the membership. Mombasa Golf Club functions as an exclusive members' club, drawing membership from shipping, tea, legal, banking, and import/export sectors, as well as government officials. The facility includes amenities such as a bar, restaurant, resident golf professional, and scenic pavilion. The course provides a challenging links-style layout set within a scenic coastal environment.
