Mahon Golf Course is Ireland's first purpose-made municipal golf course, located on the Mahon Peninsula in Cork. Designed by renowned Irish architect Eddie Hackett and commissioned by Cork City Council in 1978, the course was officially opened on September 3rd, 1980, as the Ted McCarthy Municipal Golf Course. The 18-hole course was financially supported by the Golfing Union of Ireland during its development.
