The Los Pingüinos golf course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout designed by architect Angel Reartes and inaugurated in April 1992. Located in the Buenos Aires province, approximately 29 kilometers from the city center near the intersection of the Acceso Oeste and Camino del Buen Ayre, the course sits on a 220-hectare property. The design was executed in two stages, with the first nine holes completed in 1988 and the second nine following. The total length from the back tees is 6,824 yards, featuring long tees for both men and women that allow for varied yardage configurations. The terrain is characterized by wide fairways protected by trees and rough, with the front nine utilizing existing varied tree lines and the back nine requiring more earth movement on a parkland area. Water hazards are a significant defensive feature, with several lagoons on both nines and a meandering stream that comes into play on the 13th, 15th, and 16th holes. The greens are planted with Agrostis, known for their smooth undulations and ability to receive the ball well, allowing difficulty to be adjusted through pin placement. A computerized irrigation system was installed in 2010 to manage the course conditions. The course is part of the Club de Campo Los Pingüinos, a private club with a history dating back to the colonial era and formally established as a sports entity in the 1920s. While the club has a rich history in polo, including winning the Argentine Open Championship in 1951, the golf facility serves as a central recreational feature for its members. The layout offers a mix of challenges through its natural defenses and green complexes, situated within a setting that preserves the identity of the original estate.
