Lakewood Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 course established in 1925, located in Madison, Maine, in the upper Kennebec Valley near Skowhegan. The front nine features classic links-style design from the original 1920s construction as part of the Lakewood Colony summer resort, while the back nine, designed by Phil Wogan and completed in 1995, offers parkland-style holes carved through Maine's dense woods.
Playing to 6,279 yards, the course presents a balanced challenge suitable for golfers of all skill levels. A notable feature is Maine's only par 6 hole. The landscape is characterized by white pines and mountain views, creating scenic vistas throughout the round. The course has been recognized by Golf Digest as a "hidden gem" offering challenging yet playable holes.
The property is nestled in Maine's natural beauty and situated near local attractions including white water rafting and the Lakewood Inn and Theater. Beyond golf, the rolling terrain supports Nordic skiing and snowshoeing trails during winter months.
