Located in Gunma Prefecture, Kiryu Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course designed by Toshiyoshi Shimoyama. The facility opened in April 1975 and spans 710,000 square meters of land, featuring Bentgrass greens and a layout that accommodates both long hitters and precision players. The course is managed by Tobu Kogyo Co., Ltd. and is situated in the area of Akagi Mountain, providing a setting that blends varied terrain with strategic design elements. The front nine begins with a demanding tee shot on the first hole, a 381-yard par 4 that plays downhill to a green guarded by an OB area on the left. The third hole, a 559-yard par 5, is a straight, flat driving hole where players must navigate around a large pond situated to the left of the green. The seventh hole presents a 145-yard par 3 over water, featuring a large single green with significant undulation. The back nine opens with the tenth hole, a 336-yard par 4 that requires accuracy to avoid an OB line on the right side. The eleventh hole is a 180-yard par 3 that plays over a valley, testing approach precision early in the inward round. The signature hole of the course is the eighteenth, a 498-yard par 5 described as a famous long hole. The second shot is a dramatic downhill strike, with players advised to club down due to the significant elevation change. Long hitters may attempt to reach the green in two, but the OB line on the right side of the fairway and green demands careful navigation. The course also features notable driving holes such as the third and eighth on the front nine, and the twelfth and seventeenth on the back nine, which are recommended for distance-oriented play. Kiryu Country Club offers a variety of tee boxes to accommodate different skill levels, including men's regular, senior, and ladies' tees. The handicap index for the course is 70.8, with the back tees measuring 6,464 yards. The layout is designed to provide a balanced challenge, with specific holes recommended for near-pin accuracy and others for driving distance, ensuring that golfers of all abilities can engage with the course's strategic demands.
