The Jewel Golf Course is an 18-hole public course located on Mackinac Island, Michigan, uniquely divided into two nines separated by a mile-and-a-half. The Grand Nine, built in 1901 and redesigned in 1987 by architect Jerry Matthews, sits across from Grand Hotel with scenic views of the Straits of Mackinac. The Woods Nine, designed by Matthews in 1994, occupies the island's interior and features views of the Mackinac Bridge and Upper Peninsula.
The course's defining characteristic is the horse-drawn carriage ride between nines, making it the only U.S. golf course offering this experience. The par-3 7th hole is particularly notable, ranked among Michigan's top 18 holes for combining challenging play with stunning scenery. Both nines feature driving ranges accommodating up to four players.
The course has received Golf Digest's Editor's Choice award for "Best Grand & Boutique Golf Hotels." Open to both guests and non-guests, it operates seasonally with the Woods Nine open May 15 through October 11. The resort offers rental clubs, golf carts, pull carts, professional lessons, and seasonal golf packages for visitors.
