Jal Country Club

Jal Country Club is a 9-hole semi-private golf course located in Jal, New Mexico, situated six miles out on the Dollarhide Highway. The course opened in 1950 at its current location, though the club's origins trace back to 1938 when 25 founders invested $50 each to establish the original facility. The course initially featured sand greens before transitioning to sand and cotton seed hull greens upon relocation.

The layout offers an excellent nine-hole experience characteristic of regional New Mexico courses. Jal Country Club holds notable historical significance as the course where LPGA Hall-of-Famer Kathy Whitworth learned to play golf. The facility has evolved from its modest beginnings with a converted Phillips Petroleum bunk house serving as the original clubhouse to include a large modern clubhouse at the present location.

The course serves both members and semi-private players, featuring a pro shop and lounge facilities. Its semi-arid New Mexico setting provides the typical terrain and landscape characteristic of courses in the region.
