Hound Ears Club

Course Information Unclaimed

Nestled in Western North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, between the resort towns of Blowing Rock, Boone, and Banner Elk, Hound Ears Club is a family-oriented mountain community established in 1964. The Club was founded by brothers Grover, Harry, and Spencer Robbins, who enlisted the assistance of George Cobb to design the 18-hole championship golf course. The course features 6,327 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 69.4 and it has a slope rating of 122.

Surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, the 18-hole golf course is dubbed one of the most scenic mountain courses in America. The terrain features elevation changes throughout, with several holes playing uphill and downhill, which affects club selection and shot execution. Mountain setting and natural topography create a challenging experience despite the relatively modest yardage. In 2021, the North Carolina Golf Panel rated Hound Ears Club #61 in the state.

The private club serves as the centerpiece of a larger mountain community and residential development. The 860-acre Hound Ears community is known for its casual elegance and authentic charm, and offers a variety of amenities including fly fishing, hiking, racquet sports, swimming, dining, and a Fitness Center.
