Holston Hills Country Club

Course Information Unclaimed

Holston Hills Country Club is located in Knoxville, Tennessee and was designed by Donald Ross. The 18-hole course features 6,932 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course lies beside the Holston River. The course rating is 73.4 with a slope rating of 134 on Bermuda grass. Holston Hills is widely considered to be one of the more untouched Donald Ross designs left in the United States.

The 16th hole is a 304-yard par 4 that plays to a volcano green and features a right-to-left sloping fairway with bunkers on the right side. The 12th hole is among the most difficult, measuring 475 yards as a par 4 with yardage approaching 500, requiring a significant carry off the tee to get beyond a rise in the fairway, with a green that tilts severely from left to right.

The course opened in 1927. Holston Hills hosted the Rebel Yell Open, a PGA Tour satellite event in 1968, and previously hosted the Knoxville Invitational, a PGA Tour event, for two years in the 1940s. In 2010, the course was ranked no. 52 on the Golfweek top 100 classic courses in the United States.
