Highland Pines Golf Club is a public-access course located in Porter, Texas, off Grand Parkway near the San Jacinto River. Opened as the first public course in the Houston area in over a decade, it stretches more than 7,200 yards from the back tees with five sets of tees accommodating all skill levels. The layout winds through the river basin before ascending through tall pines and hardwoods, offering views of lakes, meadows, and valleys.
The course features premium Zeon Zoysia fairways, rough, and tee boxes, along with Lazer Zoysia greens—the first and only course in the world to offer this surface. The 18-hole design emphasizes elevation changes and strategic water hazards, with challenging par 3s and 5s interspersed among well-designed par 4s. Notable characteristics include multiple tee options on each hole, strategic bunkering, and greens with significant slope and pace variations. The layout rewards shot-making and club selection, with collection areas and elevation changes adding complexity throughout. Developed by Tour 18 Inc., the course serves as both a public facility and offers membership options for residents of the adjacent Highlands community.
