Established in 1900, Highland Golf Club is one of Connecticut's longest continually operating private golf clubs, located minutes from downtown Shelton. The course features a Frank G. Gates-designed layout with rolling hills and target greens maintained to pristine condition. The design accommodates golfers of all skill levels while presenting an enjoyable challenge across its eighteen holes.

The club has hosted numerous member tournaments and events throughout its 126-year history, including championships, member-guest competitions, and charitable events. Notable recent accomplishments include a member qualifying for the 2026 PGA Professional Championship and consistent tournament participation.

Highland experienced significant disruption when its 100+ year-old clubhouse was destroyed by fire in late 2024. A new clubhouse designed by Newman Architects and Langan Engineering was under construction as of early 2026, with expected completion in spring 2026. The redesigned clubhouse will feature relocated amenities including a bar room with golf course views.

The course remains active year-round with seasonal closures for green maintenance, offering walking play on temporary greens during winter months.
