Higashi Nagoya Country Club is situated in Toyoda City, Aichi Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Sarutoge, approximately 20 kilometers east of central Nagoya. The facility features a 36-hole layout designed by Giichi Sato, who utilized the natural undulations of the terrain to create two distinct playing experiences. The West Course, measuring 7,010 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, is characterized by a relatively flat layout that cleverly integrates the lines of the hills. In contrast, the East Course, stretching 6,805 yards from the back tees and also par 72, is defined by its hilly topography, offering a more strategic and thrilling challenge. The East Course is particularly noted for its demanding nature, featuring downhill shots, doglegs, and holes requiring shots over water. The layout is designed to be unforgiving, with out-of-bounds areas located close to the fairways and heavily contoured greens that demand precision. While the West Course offers a more open and forgiving environment suitable for enjoying the game, the East Course requires sustained concentration and strategic shot-making to navigate its complex features and avoid penalties. The club has a significant history in hosting major amateur golf events in Japan. Since its opening on September 29, 1964, Higashi Nagoya Country Club has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including the Japan Amateur Golf Championship, the Japan Open Golf Championship, and the Japan Senior Open Golf Championship. Notably, it became one of only three courses in Japan to host all three of the Japan Golf Association's major open championships. The venue also hosted the final qualifying for the U.S. Women's Open in 2014, a first for Japan, and has served as a venue for the Japan Women's Amateur, the Japan Student Golf Championship, and the Japan Senior Golf Championship.
