Headley Golf Club is a nine-hole course located in rural Thornton, West Yorkshire, at 1,000 feet above sea level in the Pennines. Founded in 1907, it sits in the landscape associated with the Brontë sisters' birthplace, offering panoramic views down the Aire Valley.
The course measures 4,864 yards from the white tees and demands accuracy, particularly with putting. It features two levels bisected by a historic 120-foot railway viaduct with 23 arches, built around 1880 for the Bradford, Halifax and Keighley Railway. Playing beneath the giant railway arch provides one of the area's most distinctive driving experiences.
The layout incorporates varying tee positions for holes three through nine on the second nine, altering approach angles and club selection, with the par-four third becoming a par-three on the back nine. This design adds strategic interest to the short course.
Headley operates as a friendly, competitively priced club, welcoming both members and public players seven days a week. The clubhouse features the panoramic valley views and is available for function hire. The club maintains active participation in the Bradford Union of Golf Clubs through various competitive teams.
