Hawk's Nest Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course located in Creston, Ohio, near the junction of I-71 and I-76. Designed by Steve Burns and completed in 1994, the course measures 6,680 yards with a rating of 71.5 and slope of 124. The course features Bentgrass greens and Bluegrass fairways, set within a rural agricultural landscape typical of Ohio's Amish Country region.
The course is characterized by challenging terrain with significant elevation changes, undulating greens, and water hazards including ponds and creeks throughout the layout. The design emphasizes playability for golfers of all skill levels while maintaining competitive difficulty. Shortly after its opening, Golf Digest recognized Hawks Nest among the top 5 public-access courses in Ohio and awarded it a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating in its 2006-2007 Best Places to Play guide.
Hawk's Nest has been operated by The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) in Wooster since 2007, when the course was donated by founders Earl and Betty Hawkins. The 193-acre property serves as a teaching facility for ATI's nationally recognized turfgrass management program, allowing students to gain practical experience in course maintenance and operations while providing public access to golfers throughout Ohio.
