The Geysir Golf Course is a nine-hole layout located in Haukadalur, Iceland, situated directly opposite the Great Geysir. The course features a driving range and is designed with a L-shaped footprint, routing holes in an out-in fashion reminiscent of the Old Course at St. Andrews. Two rivers dominate the site, coming into play on every hole, while native roughs border the fairways with shrubs and heather. The design philosophy prioritized minimal disturbance to the existing terrain, a policy shared by the developer, local authorities, and the designer. The course avoids artificial mounding, relying instead on natural undulations for green contours. Bunkering is described as unique in Iceland, with heather creeping around the rough edges to maintain a natural aesthetic. The layout is characterized by unpredictable natural landforms that were allowed to shine through from tee to green. The setting includes summer cottages that the course meanders around and between.
