Great Oaks Country Club features 18 holes playing to a par 72 and measuring 6,437 yards from the longest tees. Designed by Gene Hamm, the front nine opened in 1968, and the back nine opened in 1993. Located just minutes off the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, the course offers terrific views. The front nine is mostly wide open with length, while the back nine is shorter but requires accuracy off the tee and a good putting stroke on large, rolling greens.

The 7th hole, a 423-yard dogleg left, is ranked one of the toughest holes in southwest Virginia. The course has a rating of 70.8 and a slope rating of 124. The course features fast greens with significant undulation and well-maintained fairways, presenting a challenging yet fair test for golfers of varying skill levels. It is a challenging 18-hole golf course for golfers of every skill level.

Great Oaks Country Club is a private golf club, though guests are welcome and guest tee times are accepted when available.
