Great Oaks Country Club, founded in 1971, is a private member-owned country club nestled in the rolling hills of Oakland County near Rochester, Michigan. The championship golf course was designed by renowned architect William Newcomb and sits on terrain that was formerly a Black Angus farm. The course has undergone significant renovations, including a $3.5 million upgrade in 2006 and additional updates completed in 2019 by McCumber Associates.
The club features towering oak trees throughout its grounds, which inspired its name. Beyond golf, Great Oaks offers comprehensive recreational amenities including tennis, pickleball, and a swim program affiliated with the Michigan Inter-Club Swim Association (MICSA). The facility has hosted notable tournaments including the Michigan Amateur Qualifier and Michigan Ladies Amateur. A 43,000-square-foot clubhouse, built in 1989, serves as the social center and includes dining facilities helmed by Executive Chef Brendan Vermillion. The club is distinguished as the only member-owned, family-oriented private country club in the Rochester area and is known regionally for its hospitality and active membership community.
