Golf and Country Club Schmitzhof e.V. is an 18-hole championship course located in Wegberg-Merbeck, near the Dutch border in the Maas-Schwalm-Nette nature reserve on the left bank of the Rhine. The course is characterized by fast greens, fair layouts, and varied hazards suitable for golfers of all skill levels. The club also operates a public 6-hole short course designed for beginners and those without handicap certification seeking a relaxed golfing experience.

The facility features multiple ponds and tree-lined fairways throughout the championship layout. A driving range and practice facilities are available. The club hosts various tournaments and group competitions across multiple age categories and skill divisions. Professional instruction is offered through two PGA professionals. The on-site Restaurant Stieler provides dining facilities. Founded 50 years ago, the club maintains an active membership program with divisions for juniors, women, men, and seniors, alongside competitive team structures. The course remains playable throughout much of the year, with winter protocols including fairway mats and temporary greens during off-season months.
