Golf de La Grande Romanie is an 18-hole links-style course located in the Champagne Crayeuse region near Courtisols, approximately 15 minutes from Châlons-en-Champagne. Established in 1987, the course measures 6,145 meters from the white tees, making it one of France's longest courses.
The course features characteristic links design inspired by Scottish golf, with elevated greens, wide fairways, and numerous bunkers creating optical illusions and strategic challenges. Built on chalky limestone soil, the course remains playable year-round and welcomes golfers of all levels, though it presents a genuine golfing challenge.
The layout combines accessibility with technical difficulty, offering variety through its use of elevated greens and expansive fairways. Wind conditions significantly impact play, as players must remain disciplined off the fairways. The course's undulating terrain and strategic bunkering demand careful green-reading and shot placement, particularly on the challenging putting surfaces that require vigilant play.
