Gold Coast Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 facility located in the Shimen District of New Taipei City, Taiwan. Situated on a coastal slope in the Beihai Scenic Area, the course is designed by the American firm Packard Industries, with planning by Andy Norton, a former U.S. Open champion. The layout spans 7,012 yards and is oriented north-south to ensure players face or have their backs to the sun rather than the sun in their eyes. The course is positioned between the mountains to the south and the ocean to the north, offering views of the sea from various points on the property. The terrain features a significant elevation change, accessed via a wide, paved entrance road flanked by greenery and a stone retaining wall. The course was built on a slope, requiring extensive earthmoving to create the playing surfaces. The fairways are constructed to meet international PGA standards, with a soil gravity coefficient of 300g/cm² and a maximum depression of 15mm. The design prioritizes drainage, allowing the course to be playable within thirty minutes after rainfall. The turf is maintained with grass varieties selected based on hydrological and soil analysis to ensure year-round greenery. Gold Coast Golf Course has a significant history in professional golf in Taiwan. It was the first course to partner with the Taiwan Professional Golf Association (TPGA) and hosted the first three editions of the TPGA Tour Championship. The course also hosted the first LPGA Bei Hai Championship in 2000, the 2004 Taiwan Open, and the ThreeBond Yangde Challenge. It has hosted numerous other events, including the Golden Coast Cup National Elite Team Ranking Tournament and the TLPGA Friends Open. The course was originally known as Beihai Country Club before its renaming. The facility is noted for its proximity to the ocean, with some holes offering views of the waves and the potential for balls to land in the sea. The course is located at No. 5, Caopuwei, Caoli Village, Shimen District, New Taipei City. It is recognized as the first golf course in Taiwan to receive ISO-9002 certification for quality management. The course includes a practice range and is situated within a scenic area that attracts visitors for both golf and the surrounding coastal landscape.
