Raon Golf Club is a 27-hole facility located in Hyeongpyeong-myeon, Jeju City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. The course is situated within a natural subtropical forest and was designed by Colin Montgomerie. The layout is divided into three distinct nine-hole courses: the Stone Course, the Lake Course, and the Pine Course. Each nine-hole loop offers a unique character, with the design aiming to maintain player interest and tension through varied hole designs that preserve the original natural terrain. The Stone Course features holes that demand precision, such as the first hole, a relatively short dogleg-left par 4. This hole requires an accurate tee shot to avoid side bunkers and sets up an approach to a green guarded by four bunkers. The green slopes downward toward the fairway, requiring careful club selection to avoid overshooting. The course design generally incorporates significant elevation changes and strategic bunkering to challenge players' accuracy and course management skills. The Lake Course is known for its expansive views and the first hole, which is a downhill par 5. This hole is named after Colin Montgomerie, who famously made a chip-in from the front edge of the green to win a skin during a tournament. The tee shot offers a commanding view but is affected by wind, while the approach to the green is guarded by bunkers on both sides. The green is narrow, and its slope away from the fairway adds to the difficulty of holding the putting surface. The Pine Course provides a different challenge, highlighted by a downhill par 5 on the first hole that offers clear sightlines to the green and distant views of the Oreo mountain. The fairway appears narrower due to a side bunker on the right, deterring aggressive play. Long hitters may attempt to reach the green in two, but two bunkers on the front right protect the putting surface. The green is peanut-shaped and slopes toward the center, requiring precise placement. Raon Golf Club hosted the 2004 MBC Raon Construction Invitational, a tournament that featured notable golfers including Tiger Woods, Colin Montgomerie, K.J. Choi, and Se Ri Pak. The event underscores the course's capability to host professional competition. The facility is managed by Raon Leisure Development Co., Ltd., and is located at 998 Yonggeum-ro, Hyeongpyeong-myeon, Jeju City.
