Napala Golf Club is a nine-hole, par-36 course located in Yamada-cho, Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Situated approximately 30 minutes from Nara City and 35 minutes from the Matsuyama Junction, the facility distinguishes itself as the first in Nara Prefecture to utilize evergreen Bermuda grass across the entire layout, from the teeing grounds to the fairways. This design choice ensures consistent playing conditions throughout the autumn and winter months, avoiding the typical winter dormancy found in many other regional courses. The total yardage varies by tee selection, ranging from 2,548 yards for the Ladies Gold tees to 3,253 yards for the Back tees. The course is structured as a nine-hole loop that can be played twice to complete 18 holes, a format facilitated by a "Free Choice" system featuring four distinct tee boxes at every hole. These tees—Back, Regular, Front, and Ladies Gold—allow players to alter the character and difficulty of each hole significantly. The layout includes a mix of par-4s, par-5s, and par-3s, with the back nine offering the longest distances. The 7th hole serves as the longest par-5 at 560 yards from the back tees, while the 6th hole presents a 163-yard par-3 challenge. The course is designed for a no-caddie, motorized cart experience, utilizing large American-made carts to accommodate groups of four in a relaxed pace. Strategic hazards define the playing experience, with out-of-bounds areas and water features playing a critical role in course management. The 1st hole features a right-side water hazard and OB on the left, while the 3rd hole is a shorter par-4 protected by OB on both sides and a sloped, platform-style green. The 9th hole concludes the round with a demanding downhill par-3, where the left side slopes into OB and the right side is guarded by water. Several holes, including the 1st, 5th, and 7th, require players to navigate around water hazards or OB lines, with specific drop areas designated for penalties. The greens often feature complex undulations, such as the two-tiered green on the 1st and the heavily contoured putting surface on the 6th, requiring precise approach shots and putting skills.
