The Player Course is an 18-hole signature course designed by Gary Player in 2002, located in the Village of Sterling Ridge. The course has a par of 72 and measures 7,115 yards. With its soft mounds and white bunkers strategically guarding the landing areas and greens, scoring low at the Player Course calls for chess-like shotmaking paired with mental focus. The course offers members a true test of their shotmaking skills to navigate the water features and bunkers, and is considered one of the most difficult of the five courses.
Water features prominently on the Player, with creeks and streams snaking across fairways and around greens to capture errant shots, with a large pond running from the tees all the way to the green on the scenic 9th and 18th holes. Eleven of the course's holes have water in play. Notable finishing holes include the twelfth, a long three-shot par 5 that demands accuracy on the second and third shots, and the par 4 finishing hole where drives should stay right of the pine tree on the left side of the fairway, with the green sloping from right-to-left. The course is located in the Houston, Texas metropolitan area and serves members of The Woodlands Country Club.
