The Gaborone Golf Club is an 18-hole course located in Gaborone, Botswana, situated on land leased from the Gaborone Town Council. The original layout was designed by Jimmy Russell, a government roads engineer, with the fairways cleared under the supervision of Syd Youthed. The course has been developed and refined over the last 40 years, featuring lush kikuyu fairways that transition into semi-rough before meeting the natural Botswana bush. The greens, which have been rebuilt and re-contoured, are planted with a variety of cynoden grass known as Greg Norman. The setting is described as tranquil, hosting over 80 species of birdlife and a variety of animals. The club has a long history of hosting significant tournaments, including the BGU Independence Trophy for 44 years, the Zone 6 internationals three times, and the Botswana Open over 20 times. It has also hosted the Sunshine Tour FNB events multiple times and seven of the last 12 Botswana Nomads National Tournaments. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, chipping green, locker rooms, and a pro shop. Golf carts are available for rent for both 18 and 9-hole rounds. The club features a halfway house overlooking the 10th hole, a restaurant operated by Badiri Catering, and a clubhouse bar with an outdoor deck. The venue also includes function and conference facilities suitable for corporate events, awards nights, and social gatherings.
