The course opened in 1957 as a nine-hole layout and didn't get its second nine until 2000. It all started in 1956, when a small group of men headed by Clifford Erickson decided there was a need for a golf course in Frederic. The 18-hole course features 6,458 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72, with a course rating of 70.5 and a slope rating of 127. Designed by Andy Lindquist, the course is located 1 mile south of Frederic on Highway 35.
Frederic Golf Course is a beautifully manicured 18-hole course with mature trees, lush greens and challenging fairways, and is truly one of the more enjoyable courses in Northwestern Wisconsin for all levels of golfers. The original nine includes tree lined fairways and the new nine is more open. The layout features rolling fairways that provide a few blind shots and the greens putt true and fast but they have slopes that will make you look twice before making your putt, with sand bunkers strategically placed along the greensides and fairways. Frederic Golf Course has some challenging holes that reward creative shot making and strategy, but it's not an overly punishing layout if you're slightly errant.
The club is a privately owned course open to the public, with outside play and tournaments always welcomed and anyone able to become a member.
