Located in Komoka, Ontario, just outside London, FireRock Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Tom McBroom. The layout measures 7,183 yards from the back tees, with intermediate lengths of 6,676 yards from the Gold tees, 6,279 yards from the Blues, and 5,672 yards from the forward White tees. The course is situated in Southwestern Ontario, positioned only minutes from Highway 402 and the town of Hyde Park. The property is defined by its integration with the natural landscape, flowing over pastureland and environmentally significant Savannah grasses while traversing the Oxbow River valley. The design incorporates existing gravel spoil piles and fescue-covered mounds left from former sand pits, creating a terrain that is both visually striking and strategically demanding. The course is framed by natural grasses, trees, and ragged handmade bunkers, with the Oxbow River valley providing dramatic elevation changes and views throughout the round. FireRock is characterized by a classic risk-reward design that challenges golfers to make strategic decisions on nearly every hole. The front nine begins with an elevated first tee requiring a carry across the Oxbow River valley, followed by a second hole featuring the course’s only man-made lake. The third hole, a par-3, plays through a canyon of old gravel spoils to a raised, bunkerless green that slopes back-to-front. The front nine concludes with the ninth hole, perched atop the Oxbow River Valley wall with a dramatic drop to the right and five bunkers designed to catch wayward shots. The back nine presents further challenges, including a driveable par-4 on the sixth hole where golfers must carry a massive bunker complex for an eagle opportunity. The seventh hole is a reachable par-5 that plays into the prevailing wind, while the eighth hole features a two-tiered sloping green protected by a sea of bunkers. The eleventh hole, the shortest on the course at 109 to 175 yards, requires a delicate mid-iron shot that crosses the banks of the Oxbow River twice through a densely wooded area. The fourteenth hole offers a tempting carry over an enormous fescue-covered gravel spoil pile, while the fifteenth hole demands a long carry over Savannah grass into a headwind, making it one of the most difficult holes on the layout.
