ETUF Golfplatz ☆ Follow

The ETUF Golfplatz is a nine-hole golf course located in Essen, Germany, situated directly on the shores of the Baldeneysee. The course is part of the ETUF e.V. sports club and is set within a park-like landscape in the Kruppschen Park, near the historic Villa Hügel. The facility features a driving range with grass tees and practice greens, and the layout is designed to be played in under 90 minutes. The course underwent a significant renovation starting in 2007, following the recommendations of a golf course architect, which involved removing many coniferous trees and adding three ponds to improve drainage and playability. The history of the course dates back to 1962, when it was founded by Ernst-Günther Diehl. Initially, the club operated with only three holes and a provisional wooden hut as a clubhouse. The course expanded to six holes in 1965 and reached its current nine-hole configuration in 1972. The club has a strong tradition of competitive golf, having produced several players for the German national team, including Ralph Thielemann, Frank Schlig, Friedrich Kötter, and Thomas Hübner. The course hosts various internal competitions, such as the Diehl Pokal and the Preis von Baldeney, which are considered major events for the club. The course is known for its accessibility and community atmosphere, catering to both beginners and experienced golfers. It is equipped with modern facilities, including a clubhouse and a pro shop. The course record is held by Janes Lombardo with a score of 61 strokes. The club employs professional teaching staff, including Stephan Wiedeking, Diana Chudzinski, and Niklas Voß, who provide instruction and manage the club's operations. The ETUF Golfplatz is open to members and guests, with carts and trolleys permitted on the course.
