The Emerald Championship Course spans 6,714 yards with a par of 73. Designed by television golfing stars Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas in 1975, the course is located in the rolling Shropshire countryside near Whitchurch. The course sweeps around undulating fairways through natural water hazards and strategically placed bunkers, presenting a real golfing challenge to experienced and mid-level players.

The Emerald Course features a dramatic 18th hole, with a lengthy carry over water required off the tee where positioning is key, followed by an approach that demands negotiating another water hazard before reaching the subtly undulating green. The course meanders through parkland with mature trees and beautiful water features throughout the layout, creating a formidable test for golfers of varying abilities.

The Emerald Championship Course is part of Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa, a comprehensive golf and hospitality venue. The venue is recognized as one of the Top 10 golf venues in the UK, with the Emerald course complemented by a companion 18-hole Sapphire Course at the facility.
