East Potomac's Blue Course is an 18-hole championship layout designed by Walter Travis in the early 1920s, playing to a par 72 and 6,599 yards. Located on Hains Point Island in Washington, D.C., the course is surrounded by the Potomac River and Washington Channel, offering distinctive water views throughout play.
The Blue Course is characterized as a links-style design and represents the most challenging offering at East Potomac. The course provides exceptional backdrops featuring iconic Washington, D.C. landmarks visible from virtually every location, with the Washington Monument being the most prominent. Additional visible landmarks include the Jefferson Memorial, Ronald Reagan National Airport, Fort McNair, and the Naval War College.
The course presents a fair but demanding test of golf, featuring a strategic layout that balances playability with difficulty. Its scenic setting, combined with the historic Travis design and landmark vistas, makes it one of Washington's notable public golf courses. The Blue Course is complemented by practice facilities including three dedicated practice holes and an extensive driving range featuring Toptracer Range technology.
