Established in 1963, Drayton Valley Golf Club evolved from a 9-hole course to an 18-hole, par-72 layout designed by Jasper-based architect Robert Milligan. The course features four sets of tees accommodating all skill levels, with a well-balanced mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s.
Located 140 kilometres southwest of Edmonton along Highway 22 (the Cowboy Trail), the course is set in scenic Brazeau County terrain with tree-lined fairways, strategic water features, well-maintained bentgrass greens, and thoughtfully placed bunkers. A natural creek flowing from Rocky Rapids Natural Area winds through holes 3 and 9, creating a signature pond defining the front nine.
The back nine, developed in 1985-1988 within a forested Crown land section, includes seven new holes (13-17) and retains two original holes from the 1960s layout. The front nine underwent significant evolution, with four distinctive holes added in the late 1980s and remaining holes renovated in 2002 to complete the Milligan design. Subsequent refinements have enhanced course conditions while preserving the original design character. The course serves as Brazeau County's premier golf destination, offering a challenging yet welcoming experience for golfers of all abilities.
